Options

Background
Fills transparent pixels. JPG has no alpha channel.

Leave empty to keep the original size. The ratio is preserved.

Trace mode

Vectorising redraws the image as paths, so it approximates the source rather than reproducing it pixel for pixel. Logos and flat artwork trace cleanly; photographs posterise.

Add a file and the converted result is rendered before you download it.

SVG output has no browser-canvas preview. The traced drawing is rendered here as soon as the conversion finishes.

Frequently asked questions

Can a photo be turned into a vector?

It can be traced, but a photograph has continuous tone rather than flat regions. Expect a posterised result with many paths. For photographs a lossy raster format such as WebP or AVIF is almost always the better output.

Which trace mode should I pick for a scan?

Greyscale for black and white scans and documents. Colour regions for a scan that contains coloured stamps or handwriting.

How do I keep the file small?

Lower the colour count and raise smoothing. Both reduce the number of points per path, at the cost of fidelity.
